I wanted to take a few moments to introduce myself and honor the memory of my uncle, Paul “The Captain” Cook. My name is Cody Strom and together with my wife Crystal, we will be re-opening The Captain’s Quarter’s to continue the work and tradition that Paul worked so hard, for so many years, to bring to all of you. We are Cape Cod native’s and are extremely excited to come to Michigan to share some of our New England hospitality!
Paul was a fixture in this community for more than 30 years. He was extremely personable, loved to tell stories and loved a great many of his guests, many of whom come every year. He departed suddenly and the loss of him, to his family and those who knew him well, is very great. He will be sorely missed.
I hope to be able to live up to his level of excellence, both in how he ran The Captain’s Quarter’s, and how he treated his guests. If there is anything that we are doing, or not doing, that Paul did, please let us know so we can improve the business and our relationships with all of you! I look forward to serving you all and hope to see you soon!

: As a young boy there was nothing I would rather hear my Dad say than “do you kids want to take a drive to the lakeshore?” I would watch carefully as he headed the car out onto the highway. I could only hope we were going to Saugatuck! I traveled the country most of my adult life living in almost every state east of the Mississippi River. I always dreamt of going back to Saugatuck and in 1985 the Motel I currently own came on the market. I chose my path and never looked back.
I spent over 30 years building this motel to what it has become. As I look around I see the years of toil, BUT the rewards have been bountiful!! I live in this wonderful community where I work and play. I look forward to meeting you on your next visit to Saugatuck. Whether it’s your first visit to the area or a return visit I am confident you will discover why I chose Saugatuck over any other place in our country!!
